MLK Day of Service
Join ACCESS in celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. in a 'Day on, not a day off'. Help ACCESS create a mixed media collage to be displayed from the week of MLK Day through the end of Black History Month. A 11X17 canvas will be available for pick up at the shelter during business hours on Thursday, Janaury 14th, Friday, January 15th, or from 9am-noon on Saturday, January 16th. We encourage you to use your favorite media to create a piece of art capturing what MLK Day means to you. ACCESS hopes to collecting 54 pieces of art in honor of the 54 miles that made up the march from Selma to Montgomery. This historic march, and Martin Luther King, Jr.’s participation in it, raised awareness of the difficulties faced by black voters, and the need for a national Voting Rights Act.
Once you are registered, our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch to schedule pick up of your canvas.
