Female Mentors Needed

My name is Jennifer Herrick, Executive Director of Jump On Board for Success (JOBS). JOBS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides hands-on job skills training to at-risk mothers and women aged 13-35 in Northeast Ohio. Our structured 6–18-month programs help girls and young women at risk for generational poverty, substance abuse, homelessness and unplanned pregnancies acquire professional proficiency in the fields of Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Education, Business Administration, Information Technology and Entrepreneurship. Parallel to job skills, participants also build life skills through parenting education, training and mentoring. In fact, mentoring is key to the success of our program — participants and their mentors form close bonds that drive success. JOBS programs also provide another critical resource that is so often a barrier for young mothers seeking to further their education — daycare.

Our mission and goals are to equip each young woman with the skills, resources, and motivation to financially support her family through gainful employment, to provide a healthier environment for her children, and have a greater chance of obtaining stable health insurance.

Please know that what sets us apart from other programs is our mentorship — it’s the heart of JOBS! Each participant receives a mentor. This relationship is designed to work on pertinent life skills such as time management, parenting, budgeting, goal-setting, educational steps, and more. One of our tag lines is “You come in as a stranger, but never leave because we become family!” Mentors meet with their mentee once a week, this could be texting all week, meeting for coffee, emailing, Facetime, etc. The schedule is built between the mentor and mentee. We have Mentor training the 2nd Wednesday of the month. There is about a 10 hour commitment each month. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
