Due to COVID-19, we are restructuring the 2021 Homeless Stand Down to ensure the safety of our clients, Community Partners and volunteers. There will not be a large, in-person gathering at Cleveland Public Auditorium. However, instead of cancelling the event altogether, we are going to create care packages to be distributed to people experiencing homelessness.
The Cleveland Cares Packages will contain a variety of items including essentials, clothing, nonperishable food, and items that make the clients feel loved. We have worked with our Community Partners to identify what types of items to include and how to distribute them. Service organizations like medical, dental, legal, and more will be able to list their services and contact information in our Guidebook.
We know that many of you will be disappointed by the change. Indeed, it has been a challenging and disruptive year for everyone. Our goal for the 2021 Homeless Stand Down is to support people experiencing homelessness and make sure they do not feel forgotten during this pandemic.
Here are the ways you can be involved with the 2021 Homeless Stand Down:
- Make a financial contribution
- Donate Items (clothing, outerwear, hygiene items)
- Volunteer your time: Volunteers will help sort, pack, and distribute the Cleveland Cares Packages.
